My early childhood experiences hiking in the Pacific Northwest likely fueled my interest in rock hounding and mineral collection. I recall finding quartz crystals, geodes, pyrite, and chalcopyrite specimens as I traversed the talus slopes of steep mountains and passed by old mines.

My great interest in gemstones began while shopping for an engagement ring many years ago. Over time, this interest led to gem collecting and two diplomas in the field of gemology. I then pursued jewelry fabrication and gem cutting, first as hobbies, then as niche service opportunities to share my passion with others.

Lapidary Artisans is a result of my appreciation and passion for the art of finely cut gemstones, especially those that originate within the United States. I believe in responsibly sourced stones and often travel to mine my own gem rough from localities in the United States.
